In This Landscape Of Mountains

In this landscape of mountains
this pool is vital to the dragonfly.

I am the earthkeeper, the commanding fly
made man, asking

what is life and who am I?

Here on a stone by this water amongst the mountains
I gaze into my spirit, amongst forces
of the rockmaned earth a wiry power.

I listen to the words that I sing as I lift
into the wondering spring air:

O airy eucalyptus, spice me thick
with beauty, that is life sharper than death.
